The West Highland Way 1997 (day 4)

This entry is part 4 of 7 in the series The West Highland Way 1997

Day 4: Inverarnan to Tyndrum (19 km).

A Map of the West Highland Way - day 4

This morning I got up very early, just to find not a single cloud in the sky! This would only slowly change in the afternoon when it got quite cloudy – but without any rain. Walking was quite easy, with only minor climbs. The first stretch of the day the path follows an old military road through Glen Falloch. With that much sun and hardly any trees, I realised how little spring had progressed this early in the year. The dominant colour was not green but still quite brownish, giving the superb views a different tone, contrasting well with the blue sky.

Avoiding the actual village of Crianlarich, the path further leads through hilly countryside with patches of trees and vast open parts. The following night I spent at the official campsite at Tyndrum.
